Welcome to the Conflict Minerals Blog.
You will find updates and comments on current events relating to conflict minerals (aka Blood Minerals). Metals such as tantalum / coltan, tin / cassiterite, tungsten and gold are used in electronics, jewelry and other consumer products and can originate from conflict zones.
I want to encourage readers to regularly check back and post comments.

Many people, organisations, institutions, Governments, companies, aviators, churches and NGOs have been aware of the Conflict Mineral practices in Eastern DRC for many, many years. It was related to me at ground level from my work as www.elshaddai.givengain.org. Yet, the status quo of a growing body of "complient awareness" and subtle approval continues. My prayer is that soon a better order and win-win organisation will come about regarding the mining and marketing of minerals and resources essential to Western technology (that also helps Africa) and a win-win business/ tax dispensation for the Government and people of the DR Congo. It is not morally acceptable to use my PC and mobile phone, knowing that women are raped for it and men/ children mine those minerals with bare hands for, perhaps, being shot for their trouble, or for one plate of food in three days. There are real people bleeding and crying in Goma and Bukavu!
ReplyDeleteI think, we must find another alternatif metal to decrease the using of that metal. Its have a bad impact to the earth.
